Rev up your motors for high speed adventure! The FourTrax ATV offroad adventure in Manuel Antonio is an awesome adventure that will take you through backroads, jungle and farms.
The day starts off when you are picked up from your Manuel Antonio hotel. You will be brought to nearby San Antonio de Damas where the adventure begins. When you arrive, your guide will provide you with a safety and operation class, helmet and ATV with semi-automatic transmission. Then you will be on your way ripping down the backroads with your guide and fellow adventurers.
The tour will take you through several small rural villages. You will also pass through papaya, African palm, teak and rice plantations. This is a side of Costa Rica that few tourists see, sure to provide an enlightening experience.
Eventually you will reach the Rainmaker Rainforest Reserve where you will leave your quad and take a one mile hike into the jungle. With a little cooperation from Mother Nature you may have the chance of seeing monkeys, sloths, toucans, parrots, dart frogs or any of the many other species of wildlife that inhabit the park. After about 20 – 30 minutes of hiking you will reach a towering 150 foot waterfall where you can rest, relax and swim.
After cooling down you will hike back to your ATV and then ride back to the adventure center. A typical Costa Rican meal will be waiting for you to replenish after the adventure. Here you can change into dry clothes. Then a transfer will be provided back to your hotel.
This tour usually lasts around four hours, though this is subject to change. No experience is necessary, though drivers must possess a valid drivers license and be at least 16 years old. If the guide does not believe that you will be able to operate the ATV safely they will ask you to pair with one of your fellow travelers or double up with the guide. This high speed adventure includes guide, meal, transportation and trail entrances. You'll need a change of dry clothes, towel, rain gear, sunscreen, and insect repellent

I could not drive the ATV post surgery so went on the back with my husband but it was not an ATV for 2 so very uncomfortable.

The ATV adventure was so much fun. My husband and I got to go fast and get covered in mud just like we wanted! Our guides were really cool and made the experience even that much better. I highly recommend this excursion.

This was by far my favorite excursion out of the two weeks. It was a muddy blast. The guides were safe, happy, knowledgeable and so much fun. I wanted to go back as soon as we parked our machines. The meal was also incredible.

I had never been on an ATV before, and I was glad that the guides allowed us to take a few "test runs" around the ATV lot prior to taking off. I was hoping to see more of the "backlands" of Costa Rica as we spent a bit of time on the road where you feel like you are just driving slowly, not really enjoying the type of adventure that an ATV can provide. The rides through the Palm Tree farm was great as there were lots of twists and turns and puddles!

Super fun for a first timer! Got really down and dirty and very wet from all the water we went through. They have a photographer to take photos of you, which we enjoyed.

We loved the ATV ride! Sure, it was mostly just weaving through a muddy palm plantation, but it was fun, especially when we got to go through streams! The meal at the end was also fantastic!

Another awesome excursion!! It had rained the morning before our excursion so we weren’t sure what to expect. It just made for lots of mud holes to ride through which we really enjoyed! It was really neat to see the villages and part of the countryside that typical tourists don’t see. We loved our guides- Harold and not sure about the other ones name - but I’m pretty sure they won’t forget the girls from Kentucky!

Our guide Eli was outstanding. Pleasant, informative, and challenged us but not too much. I only wished we had asked for a picture of us driving through the river bed. Laughed out loud with joy and that is fantastic when you are celebrating your 60 birthday! Lunch was amazing as well. Thank you!!!

Looking back, I would have preferred a dolphin tour which would also include some opportunity to swim in the ocean with some experts around just in case help is needed. This is not a critique of the ATV tour.

Awesome tour! Our tour guide was thorough with instructions and was sure we were safe the entire time. The meal following the activity was delicious.
However, in the voucher mailed to us, we were told to bring a swimsuit and towel but it wasn't clearly stated that we would be hiking into the rain forest and we would have an opportunity to swim. I would suggest modifying the description so that all activities are clear.
The adventure totally exceeded all expectations.

Another great tour, tour guide was outstanding. We wished we had been told to put on our swimsuits before the hike to the falls - nowhere to change at the falls. Loved the diversity of the adventure!

My first time on an ATV, I thought it was Fun, but a bit laid back, wish we could have stopped to see the water buffalo hauling the nuts. enjoyed the hike and swim in the waterfall! the Lunch at the end was delicious!

I only wish that we didn't have to go through the streams. The last one we went through, my foot slipped off the ATV and the steam hit my leg. I looked down at my leg when I should have been looking at the trail. I ended up falling off my ATV and got bruised up. However, Carlos was very caring about my fall and made sure I was okay and asked if I wanted to drive the ATV back or not. Then when we got back to the beginning of the ATV ride, he went to a neighbor to get some ice for the bump on my arm. I thought that was very thoughtful of him. We enjoyed the falls and the rest of the ATV ride.
