The Land-Boat-Land transfer is a method of transportation that originates and ends by land transfer, but with a boat transfer in between. The most common route for the Land-Boat-Land transfer is between Arenal and Monteverde. During this transfer you start by tour van and drive to the lake. You then board a boat and cross Lake Arenal. When you reach the other side another van will be waiting to drive you to your hotel. This transfer operates twice daily between these destinations. The other Land-Boat-Land transfer is between Montezuma and Jaco. Both of these transfers can save you a significant amount of time as well as provide an interesting way of doing so.
