If you are seeking things to do, Monteverde will never disappoint! The Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve is undoubtedly the main attraction in the area. Birdwatchers come from all over the world in hopes of spotting Resplendent Quetzals, Bell Birds, Emerald Toucannettes, and other rare and exotic tropical highland bird species. Horseback riding along dirt roads and trails through the cloud forest and countryside are always a favorite activity. The coffee farms also provide tourists an opportunity to see what life is like in rural Costa Rica. Of course, you cannot leave out the canopy ziplines or hanging bridges. They are said to be among the best in the world!
Days at the Monteverde Cloud Forest Lodge can be described as peaceful and relaxing. That is of course unless you decide to explore the property's amazing trails and world-class birdwatching. Evenings at the lodge are typically quiet. The lodge's Motmot Restaurant serves up typical Costa Rican dishes for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, only using natural herbs and spices. Guests can enjoy tropical cocktails or national or foreign beers at the bar. The balcony allows you to watch birds as you eat your meal.
The newly upgraded rooms at the lodge are warm, cozy, and comfortable. Rooms are divided between two types, Manakin Suites, and Euphonia Deluxe Suites. The main difference between the suites is the size as the Manakins are 60 m2 and the Euphonia Deluxes are 80 m2 in size. All suites offer a large terrace and delightful sitting area so you can enjoy the gorgeous scenery of the tropical cloud forest. The rooms offer luxurious but subdued elegance with artisanal accents and beautifully crafted natural hardwoods. All rooms offer pillowtop mattress beds and luxurious bedding. The bathrooms are equally beautiful, bright, and spacious, featuring twin vanities, soft bathrobes, and solar-heated rain showers. Rooms also are equipped with high-speed WiFi Internet, laptop safes, and more. Please note that to keep our hotel harmonious with nature, we do not have televisions or minibars, but that only adds to the experience of staying in a cloud forest mountain eco-lodge.

The hotel is in a great location and the hotel itself is beautiful and has amazing views. However, the bed was very uncomfortable, both of us woke up with sore hips in the middle of the night. The staff overall was very accommodating and nice but not very cheerful.

This place was magical... I loved the lodge, the location, the quiet, the food, the people, the scenery... What a picture perfect location! The rooms were very simple, and the only thing I can say was that you could hear everything through the walls... The bathrooms were nice and updated, the rooms, very simple. I liked the little porch we had and really would recommend the spa services!

Both of us found the staff at this hotel to be kind of rude and not that friendly. They were really short with us while we were talking to them and asking them things about the restaurant menu, etc. Also, there was a lot of staff that didn't speak English. But the grounds and rooms were beautiful.

The rooms were beautiful and the restaurant was the best on our trip. The staff was friendly and helpful. They also have a nice hiking trail.
