Today you will go on an amazing half day of adventure at the Mistico Arenal Hanging Bridges Park. The bridges and trails are located in the rainforest near the majestic Arenal Volcano. All of the 15 bridges vary in height and length and provide an interesting way to observe the rainforest canopy.

Set in the rainforest near Lake Arenal, the Mistico Park is on the fringe of the Arenal Volcano National Park. While the park and surrounding area is better known for the volcano, this is an area that protects many species of wildlife. With a little luck and cooperation from Mother Nature, your bilingual guides will point out wildlife such as armadillo, toucans, deer, raccoon, coatis, sloths, and hopefully a few monkeys. Several wild cat species such as puma, ocelot and margay have been spotted in the park, though sightings of these elusive felines are uncommon.

It is also important to mention that for safety reasons open sandals or shoes are NOT permitted on this tour.

The La Fortuna Waterfall is one of those must see attractions that should be on everybodys list. This towering waterfall is just a few minutes by car outside of La Fortuna and right around the corner from the iconic Arenal Volcano.

After being picked up at an Arenal area hotel, you will be brought to the scenic waterfalls. The drive will take you through a rural community allowing you to see a more traditional side of Costa Rica. As you get closer, the views get better and better. On clear days you can see the majestic Arenal Volcano and the neighboring Cerro Chato Volcano. You will also pass by fields which are often frequented by toucans and other bird species.

The hike back up is physically demanding so be prepared for a challenge! NOTE: This activity is not recommended for children under 5 years old and parents will need to stay with all their children throughout the hike. After the tour you will be returned to your hotel. The total duration of this combo tour is around 7 to 8 hours, but this can vary based on a variety of factors.

The bridges are the coolest thing I've ever done. I think about that rainforest experience every day. We of course loved the waterfall. I was surprised that the waterfall was such a brief and touristy experience. We would not have changed that, because Cody wanted to see a huge waterfall, but if it were just me, I might have chosen a more secluded hiking experience. Our tour guide was amazing. We learned so much, and his passion for your country and the environment was genuine and contagious. He wanted us to see an experience everything and was always on the lookout for animals and plants to show us. We also caught some wild life on the drive. He's very good at spotting things. We saw a sloth coming down to the ground along a road! I didn't know he was going to take photos and he shard them with us. Nice touch! The driver was very helpful and professional. It was a very rainy day, and it did not change their enthusiasm at all. Unforgettable.

This tour was good but not what we expected. It was private (which we didn't know) which most would love, but we enjoy talking with others. The walks were good but we didn't see much wildlife on the hanging bridges so it was a little boring. The waterfall was beautiful but a little underwhelming.
