The Canyon Canopy Zipline is one of the most popular zip lining experiences in Rincon de la Vieja. Located at Hotel Hacienda Guachipelin and Adventure Center where the tropical forest becomes your playground, it offers an exciting experience that will flex your muscles and get the adrenaline flowing while placing you at the center of diverse wildlife and breathtaking volcano views.
This creative canopy tour combines several aerial activities into one big adventure. You’ll go on a series of challenges: 7 zipline cables, a Tarzan swing, a controlled 65 foot rappel, climb up a natural rock wall and enjoy the scenic view of the tropical forest canopy and river canyon as you walk across the hanging bridges.
At Hacienda Guachipelin you will meet the guides who will be with you throughout your energizing activities. The order in which the activities occur is decided on the day of your visit. You will get suited up with a safety harness, helmet and gloves. As safety is their number one priority, your guides will go over all the rules and instructions on how the equipment works so you can partake successfully in the activities. Make sure to wear clothes that can get wet, as well as fully enclosed shoes.
Ziplining through the canopy is one of the most popular tours in Costa Rica. Your harness is securely fastened to a steel cable as you “zip” from tree to tree feeling the thrill of flying hundreds of feet above the forest floor. Later on, with the same harness you will experience a guided rappel, scaling down a rock face on to flat ground.
You will have at least two guides with you - one at the beginning of each activity and one at the end to receive you safely.
These activities range from moderately challenging to adrenaline pumping. The Tarzan Swing is said to be one of the highlights of the tour and also one of the most thrilling. Standing at the edge of a ziplining platform securely fastened to a steel cable and in your harness, you can take a free fall jump then swing through the forest canopy like the movie hero, Tarzan.
In contrast to the thrill of the Tarzan swing, the hanging bridges might feel like a walk in the park! High above the ground you’ll be walking through the tree canopy by way of suspension bridges. The bridges may sway gently back and forth but they are very safe and secure. They provide a great opportunity to see the forest from a different perspective embracing the surrounding wildlife and lush vegetation.
If you haven’t had enough adventure already, the natural rock climbing wall will exercise both your physical and mental strength. However, people of all fitness and skill levels have enjoyed climbing the wall so don’t be afraid to give it a try.
This approximate 2.5 hour tour packs a lot of outdoor fun into your Costa Rican adventure. Because you may be getting wet, you might want to bring an extra set of clothes to change into afterwards.
