The Symbiosis Spa and hot springs tour offers a unique experience incorporating a gentle horseback ride through the rainforest down to the Colorado River where you’ll find the natural Spa and hot springs sitting on the banks. There you can relax and rejuvenate enjoying all the Spa activities before returning again by horseback.
Your tour will start at Hacienda Guachepelin where you will meet your guides and go to pick out your horse. Your professional “cowboy” and nature guide will fit you with helmets and a horse suitable for your level of riding experience. With help you’ll mount your horse and ride through the beautiful tropical forest towards the Colorado River. Your guide will point out any wildlife that might be found along the way such as: sloths, toucans, monkeys, and a variety of tropical birds. The gorgeous, dense forest canopy can make these creatures hard to find by the regular traveler, so your experienced local guide is there to ensure you will see what may be visible on the day of your horseback ride.
Sitting on the banks of the Colorado River, the Symbiosis Spa awaits. This idyllic place in the middle of the forest has grounds that are landscaped with native plants and flowers throughout the property. When you reach the Spa area, you will dismount and head to the changing rooms to put on your bathing suits. Your horses will enjoy taking a break in this scenic outdoor paradise.
In order to maximize your experience at the spa, your guide may recommend a specific order of events to follow. Starting off in the sauna for 15 minutes, the intense heat will open up your pores and begin to relax your muscles.
Next, you will be given soft paint brushes to paint hot volcanic mud on yourself or on each other. When the mud dries you can take a warm shower to wash it off. The natural volcanic mud is full of minerals and is used to draw out toxins in the skin. It is the mud that makes your skin feel so soft afterwards.
Now the moment you have probably been waiting for: soaking in the hot spring pools. The water in the pools is heated by the geothermal activity of the Rincon de la Vieja Volcano, making it an eco-friendly and very therapeutic place to relax, outdoors surrounded by nature. The natural hot springs are full of minerals and there are three different pools of varying temperatures that you can enjoy.
After luxuriating in the hot spring pools, you will change back into your dry clothes and reunite with your horses before riding back through the forest to the main office.
On this half-day horseback ride to a spa and back adventure, please bring along your bathing, suit, towel, sun screen, bug repellant, long pants for riding and enclosed shoes. Travelers must be 11 years old or older to participate in this tour. Transportation is NOT included from hotels other than Hacienda Guachipelin.
