Vacations that include provided transportation include airport pick up and drop off, transportation to and from the accommodations listed in your itinerary and transportation to and from all organized tours/activities which are included in your itinerary unless otherwise stated. It is your responsibility for any transfers other than these. Keep in mind, most visitors to Costa Rica rely on provided transportation, so there is a professional network of taxis readily available in all major tourist destinations.
Private transportation is provided by a uniformed driver in an 8 passengers, air conditioned, new model tour van and will be under private conditions, meaning that it will only be you and your companions on the van. This also means that you will have the luxury of choosing desired transfer times, or stopping for any restaurants, souvenir stands or photos ops along the designated route.
Shuttle transportation is provided by a uniformed driver in a 8 - 20 passengers, air conditioned, new model tour van and typically there are 6 or 7 passengers on the 8 passengers van or 12-16 on the 20 passengers buseta. These transfers are provided by third party companies with predetermined set schedules. In summary; shared transfers offer a good way to save money, but are more time consuming, less convenient, and generally not as comfortable as private transfers.
When boats are used in transportation, there is usually a 50 pound per person luggage weight limit. Most boats are covered and all have appropriate seating and safety equipment. Transfers that include boats are always shared unless otherwise specified.
We only utilize the best operators, which is why we work closely with Nature Air. Flights are provided on one of three types of airplanes; dehavilland DHC 6 twin otter series 300, beechcraft king air - E 90, or cessna 208B grand caravan.
Various plans are available for luggage, so please check with us for the right plan.
*If a transfer listed on your itinerary does not clearly specify whether it is a "shared", "shuttle", or "private" transfer, it should be considered a shared transfer.
