When you arrive at Juan Santamaria International Airport in San Jose, we will be waiting to provide a private transfer to the San Lorenzo Cloud Forest. This is a beautiful area just outside of San Ramon with rolling green hillsides covered in cloud-enshrined jungle and farmland. You’ll stay at the romantic Villa Blanca Cloud Forest Hotel, which is perched on a hill overlooking the gorgeous idyllic scenery. Your next day is free to enjoy the ambiance and amenities of the hotel, explore trails, or just relax and take in the Costa Rica countryside.
On the third day, we will provide a private transfer to Arenal Nayara Hotel and Gardens, located across from the imposing Arenal Volcano. This is one of the world's consistently top-rated boutique hotels and a perfect base for exploring the Arenal region, considered by many to be the hot springs and adventure capital of Central America. Over the next few days, you’ll enjoy a hike through the jungle at the base of the volcano, followed by a visit to the world-class Tabacon Hot Springs. You’ll also have your choice of either a riverboat safari at Cano Negro Wildlife Refuge OR a whitewater rafting adventure on the class II or III Rio Balsa.
After a few nights at Arenal, a transfer will be provided to the remote Papagayo Bay area on the northwestern Pacific coast, where you’ll stay at the luxurious Secrets Papagayo Resort and Spa. Embracing the rhythmic sounds of the ocean surf, Secrets will be your seaside sancturary for the next couple of days while you relax and take in the salt air, surrounded by beautiful Guanacaste beaches. Your room, the Bungalow Suite Tropical View, located on the quieter spa side of the resort, features tasteful furnishings, small living area with couch, and a private balcony. The resort is spread out with provided shuttle service if you prefer transport to walking. Whether you elect to indulge in the additional services of the onsite spa, explore the coastal tide pools, or just relax and enjoy the comforts of your beachfront resort’s beautiful grounds and amenities, you are sure to experience a memorable stay at this romantic vacation destination.
On Day 9, we will provide a transfer back to Alajuela, where you’ll spend your last night in Costa Rica at the Xandari Resort and Spa. This totally upscale resort is nestled on a 40-acre plantation with expansive views of the entire Central Valley. While it’s only minutes from the airport, you’ll feel a world away lounging in the Jacuzzi overlooking the city lights twinkling in the distance.
The next day, we’ll provide a private transfer back to the airport for your flight home.

Day 1: Welcome to Costa Rica and on to the San Lorenzo Cloud Forest
We will be waiting for your arrival to Juan Santamaria International Airport in San Jose (SJO) and then will provide a private transfer to the Villa Blanca Cloud Forest Hotel.

Day 3: San Lorenzo Cloud Forest to Arenal Volcano (B)
A private transfer will be provided to Arenal Volcano, where you’ll stay at the Arenal Nayara Hotel and Gardens. Enjoy the gorgeous volcano views and world-class guest services at one of the world’s top-rated boutique hotels.

Day 4: Arenal Volcano and Tabacon Hot Springs (B, D)
A naturalist guide will lead you on an easy hike through the rainforest at the base of Arenal Volcano. Aferwards, you’ll go to Tabacon Hot Springs to relax and bathe in soothing volcanic hot springs and have dinner.

Day 5: Choice: Riverboat Safari OR Whitewater Rafting (B, L)
You will have your choice of either whitewater rafting down Rio Balsa's class II and III rapids OR a riverboat safari in search of wildlife at the Cano Negro Wildlife Refuge. Both include a lunch.

A transfer will be provided to the Pacific coast where you’ll stay at the adults-only beachfront Secrets Papagayo Resort and Spa, a luxury all-inclusive hotel.

Arenal Volcano and Tabacon Hot Springs
A bilingual naturalist guide will lead you on a hike through the rainforest at the base of Arenal Volcano. As you pass through the forest, you’ll learn about the history of the volcano and with a little luck, your guide may point out animals such as monkeys, sloths, toucans, iguanas, coatis, frogs, and other animals. Eventually, you’ll reach the observation point, which on clear days, provides amazing views of the iconic volcano.
