Citizens of the United States Canada and most other countries can stay in Costa Rica for up to 180 days, though individual immigration offers can limit your stay to essentially any amount of time less than 180 days they deem as appropriate. While it is unlikely they will not issue the full 180 days, it can and does happen. Citizens of other countries may only be able to stay up to 30 days. Extensions may be applied for through the Costa Rica Embassy.
