It all begins when you arrive at the Liberia International Airport in northwestern Costa Rica. We’ll meet you with arranged private transport that will take you to the northernmost Pacific beach region where you’ll find your resort located at Playa El Jobo. Driving time is estimated between one and a half to two hours. The tiered sections of rooms set back from the beach at Dreams Las Mareas Resort includes both family-centered and adults-only areas that are beautifully landscaped. Endless swimming pools, two that are oceanfront, meander through the property with luxurious lounging areas, restaurants, and bars always nearby.
You’ll find plenty to do at the resort with a variety of sports activities such as beach soccer and volleyball plus boogie boards, kayaks, paddle boarding, and snorkeling equipment. Nightly entertainment includes live music, theme parties, karaoke, outdoor movies at the pool, and a fire show once a week. There’s even supervised nightly entertainment for teens as part of the Core Zone Club especially for teenagers with unlimited non-alcohol drinks, a disco, weekly bonfires and other ways to meet and have a good time. Indoors during the day, there’s ping pong, video games, air hockey, and board games. The little ones in your family can enjoy daily scheduled activities at the Explorer’s Club with a professional staff member to engage them in fun educational events centered on exploring the natural world around them. The Euro-bungee is a bit hit where kids can be tethered to a trampoline and be teleported high up in the air. Open until 10pm, children may also eat their dinner here, allowing parents an opportunity to share a romantic dinner in one of the many onsite restaurants. Additional babysitting is available for an extra charge.
The adults-only section, away from the kids’ clubs and sports areas, has its own pool with relaxing music and poolside drink service. A variety of smaller, more intimate pools are also found throughout the tropical landscaping. Everyone can enjoy the resort’s hour-long nature walk or choose to spend time at the beach. Beautiful sunsets can be seen from the beach as well as the resort which is set back about a 6-minute walk along pathways to the ocean. Beach cabanas are rented out for $50 a day and the resort advertises beachfront bar service. This remote part of the country, located on the very northern reaches of the Pacific Northwest, has no immediate local towns to peruse. Average temperatures range from the mid-70s to mid-90s Fahrenheit. The grey sand beach is wild with surrounding shade trees and the water visibility changes according to the weather. On a given day snorkeling can be rewarding.
A variety of 5 impressive a la carte restaurants serve up everything from fine Italian dining (adults only inside) to delicious Asian and Mexican cuisine. A total of 8 dining areas can titillate your taste buds when you include the Barefoot Grill, World Cafe Buffet, and Coco Cafe. Intimate meals in romantic settings can be prearranged for an additional cost. The resort also offers complimentary cooking and cocktail mixing classes. NOTE: Besides the wonderful Costa Rican wildlife you are here to see, such as monkeys, parrots, and iguanas, there is an abundance of raccoons at the resort which can be a bit of a pest when it comes to food.
Once you’ve discovered all the fun things the resort has to offer, we’ll provide a tour to the Santa Rosa National Park where you can enjoy a short hike in the protected dry forest and be introduced to any visible wildlife. From there, you’ll visit the urban center of Liberia. On the way, you’ll pass by many of the giant Guanacaste trees with their graceful spreading canopy and large trunks. In its early days, the settlement of Liberia was called Guanacaste, but now that name belongs to the province. It was also known as The White City due to the number of whitewashed houses and white sand roads in this notably hot historical town that today is Costa Rica’s second largest city. It is best to wear lightweight clothing and comfortable walking shoes for both the park hike and city tour.
After more time relaxing at the resort, you’ll be ready to experience the adventures that make Costa Rica famous! You’ll be driven to Hacienda Guachipelin next to Rincon de la Vieja National Park for a full day of amazing outdoor activities. Here, you’ll go zipliningthrough the jungle on cables that can reach up to 35 miles an hour. To top it off, you can swing through the trees on the popular Tarzan Swing. You’ll also go rock climbing and rappelling, visit the waterfalls, go horseback riding, and wind up at the natural volcanic hot springs where you can paint yourself (and others!) with mud. This is nature immersion at its best! The order of events may differ but during midday, you’ll enjoy a hearty traditional meal to keep you energized. You’ll have one more full day at the resort before it will be time to return home. You might like to indulge at the Pevonia Spa which has an extensive list of massages and rejuvenating treatments. Upon your arrival, you’ll be met by our professional staff and taken by private transport to Dreams Las Mareas Resort located at Playa El Jobo. The drive is typically between 1.5 hours and 2 hours depending on traffic.

Transportation will be provided for you to visit both the Santa Rosa National Park for a short, guided hike and the historic city of Liberia, where you’ll go sightseeing and have lunch. Light clothing and comfortable walking shoes recommended.

Another unscheduled day for you to do as you please at the resort. You might like to start your day at the fitness center or just enjoy kicking back at the pool or beach. You can easily customize your itinerary to add another tour if you’d like to do more exploring.

A relaxing tour connecting you to the roots of the Guanacaste region. First up, a guided hike within the protected Santa Rosa National Park to explore one of the world’s vanishing dry forest environments and its inhabitants. This short hike along easy pathways will also reveal how settlers set up cattle ranches and became famous for its talented cowboys, known as Sabaneros.
