Today you’ll go on an exciting whale and dolphin watching expedition in the vast protected waters of Marino Ballena National Park. For this tour, transportation from your hotel in Uviva, Dominical, and Ojochal is included. If you have a rental car, you can arrive at the Dolphin Tours Office in Uvita at 8:15 a.m.. Once the excursion began, you’ll cruise the open waters passing interesting landmarks searching for whales and dolphins while observing other available wildlife such as shorebirds and sea turtles that you may encounter. Humpback whales are typically seen while migrating to these local breeding grounds from December to March and again between mid-July to late October although some species live in these waters year round. There is no guarantee you will see a whale, but the chances are high especially during these months. Cold water and a fresh fruit snack will be provided. Sometimes, if weather permits, you may be able to snorkel for a little while, though this is not guaranteed. This tour includes park entrance, a chartered boat, bilingual guide, safety gear, bottled water and fruit snack. It can take between 15 and 45 minutes to get from your hotel to the Dolphin Tours office depending on your hotel’s location and traffic. The time of boat tour typically takes from 2.5 to 3.5 hours. Please wear sun-protective clothing, a hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen and bring binoculars, a bathing suit, and a camera. You won’t want to miss trying to take a selfie with a whale!

Today you will go on by riverboat to cruise through the Mangrove trees in the Terraba Forest Reserve. You’ll learn the unique contribution Mangroves make to marine and bird life and the fascinating adaptation they have made to survive with above ground breathing roots. Your guide will point out wildlife and bring you up close to take photos. Along the way, fresh fruit and cold water will be provided as refreshments. This tour includes a bilingual naturalist guide, park entrance fee, snack, water, and transportation included. One way transport to the Terraba Forest Reserve can take from 45 minutes to 1.5 hours depending on where you are picked up from your hotel and local traffic conditions. The time of the Mangrove riverboat tour usually takes from 2.5 to 3.5 hours. NOTE: Tour requires a minimum of 6 participants. Also, the departure time varies as it is tide dependent. With amazing views along the way, this half-day tour will keep your heart pumping. Professional guides with safety kayaker training will take you on this seven-mile adrenaline run from mountain top to sea level. Round trip transportation by shuttle included from Manuel Antonio but for other outlying areas, such as Jaco or Dominical, there is an additional shuttle fee. Pick up times vary depending on the distance from Manuel Antonio. Equipment, bilingual guides, fresh fruit, and juice are also included.
